West Potomac High School: Teen Charged After Stabbing Incident Leaves Student Hospitalized

A 16-year-old student is recovering from serious injuries following a stabbing at West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday morning, according to Fairfax County Police.

The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. in a hallway near several classrooms. A school resource officer quickly responded and provided aid to the injured student. Fairfax County officers arrived on the scene within minutes.

Initially reported to have life-threatening injuries, the victim was later confirmed to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital, police announced in a Wednesday afternoon press conference.

A 15-year-old male student has been taken into custody and is facing charges of malicious wounding. Authorities say they have recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack.

Police stated that the stabbing followed a physical altercation involving three students. The third student, also 15, is being questioned but is not expected to face charges.

No further suspects are being sought, and the identities of those involved have not been released due to their ages.

Police Chief Kevin Davis addressed the circulation of video footage of the altercation on social media. “We have the video, just like you have the video, but the video doesn’t tell the entire story,” Davis said.

Parents have expressed concerns over campus safety. “This is something that could have been stopped,” said Aellene, a concerned mother of a student at the school.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
